"I wanted to thank you for A's service yesterday. Many people spoke to me at the reception about how wonderful they thought the service was. I was unsure how I was going to feel; it was sad; but it was also a hugely positive and uplifting experience, and I think that your approach to and delivery set just the right tone. Many thanks again and best wishes"

Frequently asked questions

What do I do when someone dies?

Working out what to do when someone dies can seem overwhelming, especially when grieving. However, there are several organisations who can help you through this time. For more information you can visit the government website which outlines clearly the process to follow.

How long can a body be kept before a funeral?

Often a cremation or burial can take place up to 6 weeks after the death, however this is not set in stone, this can all depend on the circumstances.

Do we have to have a funeral?

Yes, a funeral is defined as disposal of a body via cremation or burial but you do not have to have the ceremony if this is not wanted or appropriate.

Can I choose where the funeral will take place?

A cremation can take place at any crematoria. However for burials  some cemeteries will charge a fee, sometimes double if the person who has died lives outside of the borough.

Do I have to provide clothing for the person who has died?

No, Bronze Ash can dress your loved one in a simple linen shroud.

Funerals

Does the funeral have to be religious?

No, the funeral can be non-religious and we have a range of celebrants with differing skills.

What is a celebrant?

A celebrant is a minister/officiator who will assist you in organising a ceremony focused on the life of the person who has died. Our celebrants' fees range from £220 to £250 for a 30 minute ceremony.

Can I use my own minister?

Of course. We can all work together.

What do I do if the deceased has left no money for the funeral?

There is always a way. The UK have a department that can contribute to the cost of the funeral for families who are without funds and dependent upon certain benefits. As an independent firm, Bronze Ash can create an affordable ceremony for you.

Can we play our favourite song in the crematorium?

Yes, most crematoriums are equipped with media systems that will have vast music libraries. Speak with your celebrant.
